Varying doses of three -insecticides were evaluated for the control of the bean bruchid, Callosobruchus chinens, on stored haricot bean at Nazret between 1981 and 1983.The experiments uere replicated three times in a completely randomized design. Results, assessed in terms of percent damage and mean number of living bruchids per ca. 0.25kg seed sample, indicated that significantly superior control of the insect was obtained with 4,5, and 6 ppm piri-miphos-methyl than with methacrifos and lindane. The highest dosages of methacrifos (10 ppm) and lindane (15 ppm)also gave comparable results to pirimiphos-methyl for about three months but their efficacy declined thereafter. In general, the degree of control for pirimiphos-methyl was superior to that of mathacrifos, lindane or the untreated check, in that order.
