Research about brassica pod midge Dasineura brassicae Winn. (Diptera, Ceciomyiidae) flying out in winter oilseed rape Brassica napus fields was performed in 2009 in research farm ''Peterlauki'', Zemgale area. There were determined 336 representatives. The first three representatives in winter oilseed rape field were determined on yellow glue traps GS 39 (25.04.), when sum of accumulated effective temperatures (AET) was 71 deg C, in later time period their amount was unequal. At the beginning of forming of winter oilseed rape pods (GS 57–60) there were observed massive flying out of pests – in yellow water traps were found 35.4–37.7% from the total number of individuals observed; on the yellow glue traps at the same time period were recorded only 18.1% of D. brassicae. Sum of AET was from 176 deg C to 219 deg C. Last flying of D. brassicae adults (2.0–3.2%) was determined by the yellow water traps GS 69–72 at June 10 when sum of AET was 510 deg C. Totally three D. Brassicae flying out determination methods were tested: yellow glue traps, yellow water traps and 200 entomological net cuts. Results of the first trial year 2009 were: (1) entomological net cuts method did not show any representative of D. brassicae; (2) yellow glue traps method showed 61 representative or 18.1% of total individual's number of D. brassicae; (3) application of yellow water traps gives 275 representatives or 81.9% of total individual's number of D. brassicae. It is necessary to continue research to clarify the most suitable method for determination of flying out of D. brassicae.
