Cooperative breeding program on domestic plums (P. domestica) with Department of Crop Science of Swedish University of Agricultural Science, Balsgärd was started in 1996. Plum hybrids selected as a result of this program were evaluated at Latvia State Institute of Fruit-Growing. The aim of the investigation was to test the endurance of plum hybrids to important diseases and pests, and to select the most resistant, productive and winter-hardy hybrids for further trials in different regions of Latvia. The average yield and fruit weight of plum hybrids along with the other parameters and the influence of harmful organisms (caused by Tranzchelia pruni- spinosae and Tranzschelia discolor; Stigmina carpophila; Panonychus ulmi Koch.) on these parameters were estimated during 2007–2008. As a result essential differences in the resistance to harmful organisms were found. The damages caused by harmful organisms influenced the yield and fruit weight substantially. For the sum of parameters two hybrids were selected: BPr1855 and 0834B1.
