Social space and neighbourhoods: perspective and approaches | Sociālā telpa un apkaimes – izpratne un pieejas

英语. It is possible to regard neighbourhoods – small parts of cities with their own identities and functional funding – as the smallest urban research units. Every neighbourhood has its own unique space and dwellers which see, feel, and use that space in their own way – a social space. One neighbourhood can be characterized by a morphologically homogeneous territory, social diversity of dwellers and functions, another – by monotony. Therefore, it is anticipated that the social spaces of neighbourhoods will be developing differently. The article focuses on the understanding of the concept of social space as well as reviews approaches to its research in order to investigate the formation processes of social spaces in the neighbourhoods. The case of Rīga is studied, and the ideas of prospective research are outlined.

Par pilsētu izpētes sīkākajām telpu vienībām mūsdienu apstākļos var uzskatīt apkaimes – nelielus pilsētu rajonus ar savu fizisko un sociālo apstākļu kopumu, identitāti un funkcionālo nodrošinājumu. Katrai apkaimei ir sava unikāla telpa un iedzīvotāji, kas to pieredz, jūt un izmanto, – sociālā telpa. Vienu apkaimi var raksturot morfoloģiski vienota teritorija, sociāla iedzīvotāju un funkciju daudzveidība, citu – vienveidīgums. Līdz ar to paredzams, ka šo apkaimju sociālās telpas veidosies atšķirīgi. Lai izprastu iespējamos sociālās telpas veidošanās procesus apkaimēs, rakstā pievērsta uzmanība jēdziena “sociālā telpa” izpratnei, kā arī pieejām šī fenomena pētīšanai, aprakstīti arī teorētiskie priekšstati Latvijā par to, kas ir apkaime un kopiena. Sīkāk apskatītas Rīgas apkaimes, ieskicētas idejas turpmākajiem iespējamiem pētījumiem.
