The change of forest structure during the 20th century. Case study of forest tract in Vidzeme hummocky landscape | Meža masīva struktūras maiņa 20. gs. pauguraines ainavā Vidzemē

英语. The study is addressed to local-scale landscape change issues resulting from human activities and natural factors. The data set containing historical records and up-to-date forestry inventory data as well as results of field works are used for study. The spatial change of forest stands borders are analyzed, and forest site type classifications compared to study the structural and compositional changes of forests stands over the last 70 years in areas classified according to forest use intensity. It is concluded that stands average age nowadays is higher comparing to 1920’s in the study area, at the same time the areas of old-growth stands are becoming more scattered due to forest logging. The analysis of forest stands management history has revealed reduction of all presented dominant tree species proportion due to the low-intensity forest use. The history of Woodland key habitats is strongly connected to age and forest use intensity. The study stresses the need for further discussion on causal relationships of biodiversity development in forests, and manifestations of forest use policies and applied practices on forest structure and tree species composition.

拉脱维亚语. Rakstā aplūkota meža ainavas attīstība dabisku un cilvēka rosinātu faktoru ietekmē lokālā mērogā. Analīzei izmantoti vēsturiskie meža inventarizāciju dati, Valsts meža dienesta datubāze un lauku pētījumu rezultāti. Analizētas meža kontūrainības izmaiņas, kā arī salīdzinātas meža tipoloģiskās pieejas. Pamatojoties uz to, analizētas meža iekšējās vecumstruktūras un koku sugu sastāva izmaiņas vienās un tajās pašās vietās, izmaiņu raksturu aplūkojot atkarībā no saimniecisko darbību intensitātes. Pētījuma gaitā secināts, ka visu pārstāvēto koku sugu vecums ir pieaudzis, vienlaikus to izvietojums kļuvis sadrumstalotāks. Meža platību apsaimniekošanas vēstures analīze atklāja, ka ekstensīvi apsaimniekotās platībās laika gaitā samazinās visu valdošu koku sugu īpatsvars. Bioloģiskai daudzveidībai nozīmīgo teritoriju veidošanās saistāma ar vietām, kuras ilgstoši izmantotas ekstensīvi. Pētījuma gaitā iegūtie secinājumi aktualizē diskusiju par meža bioloģiskās daudzveidības veidošanās likumsakarībām un laika gaitā mainīgo meža izmantošanas politiku un prakšu ietekmi uz meža struktūru un sastāvu.
