Production of American cranberries (Vaccinium macrocarpon) is perspective branch of horticulture under conditions of Latvia, but fruit rot becomes one of the most important risk factors during storage. Development of fruit rot was estimated in 6 cranberry plantations in different places in Latvia during harvest 2010 and storage from 2007, 2009 and 2010 years’ yields. Spread of rot in the field was different (1-21%) in cranberry plantations in 2010. Incidence of cranberry rot was 11% after one month of storage (end of November) in 2007, but after three years (in 2010) at the same time incidence of disease reached 35%. The rapid increase of infection was observed at the end of February 2010 when on average 88% of total berries were decayed. Spread of fruit rot increased every year; incidence was different in the inspected cranberry plantations. Application of fungicides in cranberry plantations demonstrated poor results of berries protection from rotting during storage.
