A study on evaluation of efficacy of different avian influenza (H5N1) vaccines in layers
2009
Shahid, M.
125 layer birds were reared and divided into five groups including control group thus each group consisted of 25 layer. Layers of four groups (A,B,C and D) were inoculated subcutaneously with a quantity of 0.3ml of four different avian influenza H5 strain vaccines on days 7 and 28 of their age while layers of group E were kept as control. Antibody titre in the sera of layers against avian influenza was determined before and after vaccination through Haemagglutination Inhibition (HI) test. The geometric mean titre (GMT) of haemagglutination inhibiting antibodies before vaccination in the sera of layers of group A,B,C,D and E was measured as 3,2,3,3 and 3 (plus minus 0.8944) respectively. Non-significant differences were observed in the HI antibody titre of different groups against avian influenza.
