Response of promising cotton varieties to different irrigation scheduling
2009
Mari, A.R.
Homogenous seeds of five cotton varieties namely Malmal, Sindh-1, koonj, TH-2/2000 and Hari Dost were drilled in rows 75 cm apart and treated with three different irrigation scheduling viz. I1 = 3 irrigation, (1st after 60 days of sowing and subsequent at 35 days intervals), I2 = 5 irrigation (1st after 50 days of sowing and subsequent at 40 days interval), and I3 =7 irrigation (1st irrigation at 40 days of sowing and subsequent at 15 days interval). Fertilizer at recommended dose be applied in the form of Urea and DAP. The full dose of Phosphorus with 1/3 of N was applied at seedbed preparation, while rest of N was split and top-dressed at various crop developmental stages. It was observed that all the characters viz. plant height, number of monopodial and sympodial branches per plant, number of bolls per plant, seed cotton yield per plant, G.O.T staple length and seed cotton yield per ha affected significantly (P less than 0.01) by irrigation scheduling and varieties.
