Performance of M6 mutant wheat genotypes for yield and phenological characters
2009
Keerio, J.M.
The experiment was laid out in Randomized Complete Block Design with four replications in the open field. The analysis of variance revealed highly significant (P less than or equal to 0.01) differences among genotypes for all the characters. The genotype BWM-1 produced the tallest plants than all the other entries. This genotype BWM-19 took minimum days to heading and was significantly lower than all the genotypes except BWM-land BWM-9. The genotype BWM-11 took minimum days to maturity and was significantly lower than all the genotypes including BWM-1, BWM-4, BWM-9, BWM-19, and check variety Kiran-95. The genotype BWM-21 took maximum period of grain filling. The genotypes BWM-8, BWM-17, BWM-19, BWM-21, Sarsabz and Sindh-81 produced the more number of grains per spike, and per spikelet, and high grain yield per spike. Genotype BWM-17 also possessed longer spikes and more spikelets per spike than the other genotypes.
