Agro-qualitative studies of five cotton cultivars (Gossypium hirsutum L.) grown under Toba Tak Singh conditions
2007
Hussain, M.
The research was conducted at farmer's field in district Toba Tek Singh using simple randomized complete block design (RCBD) with four replications. The plot size was 7.0 x 4.5 m-2. The row to row distance was kept at 75 cm and plant to plant at 30 cm the cultivars used were CIM-446, NIAB-999, NIAB-111, and CIM-473 & RH-511. All the other agronomic practices were kept uniform for all the replications. Data on agronomic parameters and qualitative characters was statistically analyzed using Fisher's analysis of variance (ANOVA) technique and least significant difference (LSD) test at 5% probability level. The results show that number of plants m-2 showed non-significant effects due to varieties or replications both. Plant height was differed significantly among different varieties and maximum (157.1 cm) plant height was recorded in variety RH-511. Monopodial branches differed significantly due to different varieties. The maximum (2:00) number of monopodial branches were re
