This text looks at the sustainable development of Mediterranean aquaculture. After reviewing the validity of the concept for aquaculture and existing tools, it outlines the conclusions of the Guidelines provided by IUCN and FEAP on Interactions between aquaculture and the environment, as well as the initial conclusions of the ongoing IUCN/FEAP Guidelines on site selection. It also touches upon other aspects of sustainable development, such as the diversification of aquaculture production and the issue of certification
