The group of secondary xylofagous insects obviously belongs to the most dangerous technical pests of wood at storages. The most serious species that endanger wood at storages in Serbia are representatives of fam. Scolytidae, Platypodidae, Siricidae and genera Plagionotus and Monochamus, as well as some other species that appears rarely and periodically in our climate area. Due to moisture content that use to be appropriate for development of these species, fresh felled timber is exposed to the attack at temporary- like as at permanent storages, till the moment of fabricing and decreasing of its moisture. The measures of preventive- or repressive protection against this insects are in range from organisational and technical-, physical-, till the measures of preventive character and they should be always utilised, while the other measures are the ones of emergency that mainly make production more expensive. Due to increasing necessities for quality wood raw materials, keepers of wood have to pay much more attention to the problem of wood protection at storages.
