Improved paper machine dryer section: simulation study

Conventional multicylinder dryer section has been simulated. Predicted web temperatures and end dryness have a good agreement with measured data from commercial paper machine. Another simulation was done for the improved dryer section to demonstrate a potential for dryer capacity increase. Improved dryer section includes cylinders with higher heat transfer rate from steam to paper and air impingement hoods.
