Influence of row spacing on buckwheat yield and quality | Uticaj međurednog razmaka na prinos i kvalitet heljde

The aim of this research is to determine the optimal row spacing for domestic buckwheat H-1 population which would achieve the maximum grain yield and minimal development of invasive weed flora. The trial was established on Mt. Manjača (Bosnia and Herzegovina) at 800 m altitude with three row spacings: 12.5 cm, 25 cm and 50 cm. The highest buckwheat grain yield of 2.43 t/ha was with row spacing of 25 cm, while were 1.54 t/ha and 1.53 t/ha respectively. Planting density was in complete correlation with planting rate. Planting rate of 12.5 cm caused crop lodging, and rate of 50 cm caused more intensive development of weeds than that of buckwheat. Between weeds and buckwheat no allelopathic relations were determined. The site at 800 m altitude had yield of H-1 population of 2.0 t/ha, and site at 150 m altitude had yield of 0.5 t/ha. Row spacing had no influence on protein, fat, cellulose nor ash content in buckwheat grain.
