This dissertation suggests appropriate methodology for assessment and management of ecological risk. Methodology has been tested and successfully applied in the region of Boka Kotorska bay (Montenegro). Subject of dissertation is analysis of influences of various stressors to ecological components of Boka Kotorska bay. Consequences of those influences are shown in increased level of eutophication of water environment, mostly through the influence on nitrogen and its compounds. The main goal of the research is development and implementation of methodology of assessment and management of ecological risk. Apart from the main goal, there are five particular goals of the research which relate to: possibility of collecting as much information on the subject of the research as possible; definition of primary stressors; definition of the effects of primary stressors; precise determination of eutrophication level in Boka Kotorska bay and determination of present ecological state of Boka Kotorska bay and prediction of measurements for the improvement of that condition, based on suggested methodology. Validation of realization of main and particular goals of the study is given through concrete research at the region of Boka Kotorska bay during two years from 2005 up to 2007, which methodologically, gave answers to the questions set by the goals. The study emphasizes the need for population, state institutions and all other interested parties to participate more in protection of ecological resources as Boka Kotorska bay. The study especially emphasizes the importance of organized collection and analyses of ecological and other information, with the aim of more efficient management and monitoring of the environment. In this way, applying suggested methodology for management and assessment of ecological risk, we give scientific and expert contribution in the field of protection of the environment in our country and in general.
