The environment in Leposavic region (Serbia) is in the worrying condition, considering that there is industrial facility Flotation of Trepca Company nearby. Nevertheless Flotation stopped operations in 2000; the consequences of previous activities of industrial plant of Trepca to the environment of Kosovska Mitrovica, Zvecan and whole region of Northern Kosovo are extremely bad. At this point, the largest pollutants are Flotation and industrial waste dumps which are not remediate and cultivated. One of them is Bostaniste, located nearby Flotation. This dump is the main source of contamination in Leposavic region. The environment control in Northern part of Kosovo is regularly monitord by the Ecology department of Trepca in Zvecan, by the regular measurements, pollution control, and publication of the reports.
