We often tend to simplify the role of agriculture in rural development. On the other hand there is the problem of identifying rural development and rural economy with agriculture. Agriculture is not only an economic category, it also affects the environment to such an extant that the feedbacks limit or encourage the development of other components of the rural economy and rural life in general. Agriculture and village develop in a variety of conditions, including its greater or minor success. This is especially true for so-called marginal areas, where the limitation of natural conditions causes the inability to establish intensive agricultural production that can compete with that which takes place in conditions where soil, climate and other conditions are favorable. In these areas it is agriculture that designed and maintained environment for the development of other economic activities for which this area has comparative advantages for example tourism. So agricultural production should not be put out, but it must increase the diversity of its valorization through adjusting the intensity and the products in the surrounding – natural, productive and socially.
