The flora of the National Park Kozara was researched during 2005 and 2006. 657 species of vascular plants were identified and systematised in 7 classes, 40 orders and 94 families. Of the total number of species, 17 are fern species, and 640 are flowering plants. Among flowering plants, 114 species are trees and shrubs (77 autochthonous and 37 allochthonous) and 526 are herbaceousih plants, of which 8 allochthonous. Total number of autochthonous species is 612, and they are classified in 322 genera and 89 families. Among spermatophytes, the greatest number of species were found in the genera: Carex (15), Trifolium (11), Galium (10), Silene (9), Hieracium, Lathyrus, Veronica and Vicia (8 each), Campanula, Cardamine and Ranunculus (7 each), etc. Some typical species of the neighbouring calcereous Dinarics are completely absent: Adenostyles alliariae, Asplenium viride, Asphodelus albus, Buphthalmum salicifolium, Cardamine trifolia, Carex ornithopoda, Cicerbita alpina, Circaea alpina, Cystopteris montana, Festuca altissima, Geranium silvaticum, Hieracium villosum, Huperzia selago, Knautia sarajevensis, Lathraea squamaria, Lonicera alpigena, L. nigra, L. xylosteum, Moehringia muscosa, Myosotis alpestris, Orthilia secunda, Platanthera bifolia, Polystichum aculeatum, Potentilla montenegrina, Prenanthes purpurea, Pyrola rotundifolia, Ranunculus aconitifolius, Rhamnus fallax, Ribes alpinum, Rubus saxatilis, Salix elaeagnos, Sambucus racemosa, Sorbus aria, Sesleria autumnalis, Streptopus amplexifolius, Vaccinium myrtillus etc.). Conversely, there is a series of species which are absent on the adjacent mountains of the West Dinarics: Acer tataricum, Castanea sativa, Populus alba, Calluna vulgaris, Hypericum androsaemum etc. Duringthis research, Juncus atratus Krocker, the species of sub-South.Siberian floral element was recorded for the first time from the flora of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In this research, 19 species of rare and threatened plants of Bosnia and Herzegovina (after Šilić, 1992) were identified: Taxus baccata, Cardamine kitaibelii, Cephalanthera longifolia, Convallaria majalis, Cyclamen purpurascens, Daphne laureola, Dianthus giganteus ssp. croaticus, Galanthus nivalis, Galium boreale, Hepatica nobilis, Ilex aquifolium, Lilium martagon, Limodorum abortivum, Orchis purpurea, Ruscus hypoglossum, Scabiosa cinerea ssp. cinerea, Scrophularia scopoli, Telekia speciosa and Vicia oroboides.
