The soil on siliceous substrates was researched in coppice forests of xerothermic and xero-mesophilic oak communities in the area of: M.U. Trsteničke Šume - Veluće and Osaonica, M.U. Vrnjačka Banja and M.U. Stolovi - Ribnica. The following soil types were identified on the study localities: - humus-siliceous soil (soil profiles: 5/06, 11/06); - dystric brown soil (soil profiles: 1/06, 6/06, 7/06, 8/06); - illimerised soil - luvisol (soil profiles: 9/06, 10/06). Two soil systematic units of humus-siliceous soil were identified on the following study localities: Brownised dystric humus siliceous soil on sandstone in M.U. Trsteničke Šume - Osaonica in the sessile oak forest with oriental hornbeam (Quercetum montanum carpinetosum orientalis) - (soil profile 5/06), and brownised eutric ranker on serpentinite in M.U. Stolovi in the sessile oak forest with flowering ash (Quercetum montanum ornetosum) - (soil profile 11/06). The profiles of dystric brown soil have the characteristics of the main subtype - typical, and they differ remarkably per depth. Based on the observed differences per depth, the following three forms of this soil were identified: shallow, medium deep and deep. Shallow acid brown soil was studied in M.U. Trsteničke Šume in the typical forest of Hungarian oak and Turkey oak (Quercetum farnetto-cerris typicum) - (soil profile 1/06), and in the forest of Hungarian oak and Turkey oak with hawkweed (Quercetum farnetto-cerris hieracietosum) - M.U. Vrnjačka Banja (soil profile 7/06). Medium deep acid brown soil was studied in M.U. Vrnjačka Banja in the forest of Hungarian oak and Turkey oak with hornbeam (Quercetum farnetto-cerris carpinetosum betuli) - (soil profile 8/ 06). Deep acid brown soil was studied in M.U. Vrnjačka Banja in the forest of Hungarian oak and Turkey oak with hornbeam and beech (Quercetum farnetto-cerris carpinetosum betuli fac. fagetosum) - (soil profile 6/06). Luvisol pseudogleyed on serpentinite was studied in M.U. Stolovi - Ribnica on two sample plots in the forest of sessile oak with alpine barrenwort (Quercetum montanum epimedietosum) - (soil profile 9/06), and in the forest of Hungarian oak and Turkey oak (Quercetum farnetto-cerris) - (soil profile 10/06).
