The feed grain (FG) production and marketing in Russia and the world are analysed. The competitive environment evaluation system for the FG market has been developed and represented. Russia is the largest FG producer in the world: its share to the world output of some feed crops such as barley and oats exceeded 15 and 31 per cent respectively in the year 2007. The FG share to the total feed output in Russia accounts for 70 per cent. The total FG crop area and physical output have been reducing since 1990, whereas the FG crop production profile hasn't been improved in order to meet the animal husbandry requirements. There is lack of high nutritive value maize and beans rich in digestible protein. Moreover, the current FG production of 20-22 mln. tons covers only 50-60 per cent of animal husbandry needs. As for the FG share to the total grain production, Russia with its 32 per cent in the year 2007 lost if compared to some developed countries such as the USA (77%), Canada (49%), the European Union (45.3%). Noteworthy is, the demand for maize FG is increasing and being partly covered by Ukraine. As the domestic and world demand for FG increases, it is suggested to extend the FG crop area and establish an up-to-date marketing system.
