Experiment was carried out to improve cassava yield through increasing chemical fertilizer (CF) rates in combination with irrigation(I). Huay Bong60 cassava variety was planted at the Khao Hin Son Research Station, Khao Hin Son, Phanom Sarakam, Chachoengsao province during Jan 2008-Feb 2009. A split plot in RCBD with 3 replications was used. The main plots were I treatment: rainfed (no irrigation, W1), 45 mm I /month (10-days interval, 15 mm each, W2) and 60 mm I/month (10-days interval, 20 mm each, W3). The sub plots were chemical fertilizer CF (15-5-20) rates: 50, 75 and 100 kg/rai. Irrigation was supplied only during the dry period (Nov 2008-Feb 2009). It was surprised that cassava yield was not different among the I treatments. Hewever, increasing rate of CF significantly increased cassava root yield. CF at 100 Kg/rai gave the highest cassava root yield (8,219 kg/rai) followed by CF at 75 kg/rai (7,219 kg/rai) and CF at 50 kg/rai (6,417 kg/rai) gave the lowest. Interaction among the I supplied during the dry period and the increasing rates of CF did not affect fresh weight of stems, leaves and stocks and root starch content. The response of harvest index (HI) followed the yield trend in that the highest CF rate (100 kg/rai) gave the greatest HI (0.68) followed by 75 kg CF/rai (HI=0.65) and 50 kg CF /rai (HI=0.62),respectively.
