Species richness, status and distribution of crabs on 3 coastal habitats, sandy beach, rocky beach and coral reef of Prachuapkhirikhan province were studied. Fifty-five species in 35 genera, 15 families were found. The number of crab species in sandy beach, rocky beach and coral reef were 18, 22 and 22 respectively. The most dominant species in sandy beach was soldier crab (Dotilla wichmanni), flattened crab (Petrolisthes elongatus) and rock crab (Leptodius exaratus) in rocky beach and coral guard crab (Trapezia cymodoce) in the coral reef. The stations with the most distribution of variety of crabs in sandy beach, rocky beach and coral reef were found in Had Ban Krud, Had Hin Krud and Koh Sung, respectively. The human impacts on the study area were mainly from tourist and the facilities of tourism. Threatening of crab biodiversity from human impacts was not serious in the study area. The study area is also strongly protected by local communities which maintained the diversity of crabs on coastal habitat of Prachuapkhirikhan province. The utilization of coastal area for tourism under the protection of biodiversity had no impact on the diversity of crabs.
