The endangerment through natural risks is globally increasing, despite the efforts to mitigate the effects. Therefore, society needs appropriate methods in order to better anticipate as well as interdisciplinarily assess and estimate natural risks and provide effective and efficient management options. The article proposes a procedural model comprising the four phases of risk anticipation, interdisciplinary risk estimation, standardization of risk types and risk management. Risk communication as dialogue between society, authorities and experts accompanies all phases.
