In course of the research there was studied the hardiness and productivity of winter rape (Brassica napus) depending on the sowing terms in the conditions of the Republic of Belarus in 2007–2010. Research was realized on a trial field of the Belarusian State Agricultural Academy on sod-podzolic, light loamy soil. The agrochemical characteristic of arable horizon were the following: рН KCl – 6.1-6.3, humus content – 1.5-1.8%, the content of mobile forms of phosphorus – 212.0-297.1 and exchange potassium – 304.1-348.5 mg/kg of soil. As a result of realized research it was found that the different sowing terms of winter rape influenced on hardiness and productivity of seeds of hybrid Elvis in comparison with the variety Leader. The best hardiness of plants of the hybrid Elvis (68.0–71.1%) was ensured with the terms of sowing at August 15–20th, of the variety Leader – 54.6–59.6% with the sowing at August 10–15th. Due to the overgrowing of hybrid plants with the term of sowing at August 5th, its hardiness in comparison with the variety in this variant of crops was lower by 13.2%. It was established that the economically efficient terms of sowing, in the conditions of the north-eastern part of Belarus, for the hybrid Elvis were August 10–20th, for the variety Leader – August 5–10th. The sowing of the hybrid at an earlier date – at August 5th – was economically not sound in comparison with the variety.
