NOTE ON RECTAL DIGESTIBILITY IN PIGLETS FED STARTER FEEDS | NOTA SOBRE LA DIGESTIBILIDAD RECTAL EN CERDITOS ALIMENTADOS CON PIENSOS INICIADORES

西班牙语; 卡斯蒂利亚语. Se utilizaron ocho cerdos híbridos, machos castrados con un peso vivo promedio de 12 kg para estudiar la calidad de una mezcla comercial iniciadora de fabricación cubana. Los cerditos fueron distribuidos aleatoriamente según un diseño cuadrado latino 2 x 2 cuadruplicado en dos tratamientos. Los tratamientos fueron las dos mezclas de alimento utilizado. Se evaluó una mezcla cubana en forma de harina contra una dominicana granulada, de reconocida calidad. El consumo fue restringido a 0.8 kg MS por kg0.75/día y el agua fue suministrada ad libitum. En cuanto a la composición bromatológica, la mezcla de producción cubana mostró un menor porciento de proteína bruta (N x 6.25) al compararla con la mezcla importada (15 y 20%, respectivamente) Se obtuvieron diferencias significativas (P0.001) para todos los índices digestivos estudiados (digestibilidad MS, 76.2 y 86.3%; digestibilidad N, 68.4 y 77.1%) a favor de la mezcla de fabricación dominicana. La mezcla de producción cubana no alcanzó los requerimientos necesarios para esta etapa del crecimiento desde el punto de vista nutricional y de aprovechamiento digestivo. Ello indica un deterioro de la calidad de la mezcla y la declara no apta para su utilización en la categoría de inicio.

英语. The quality of a Cuban starter commercial mixture was studied in eight crossbred piglets with an average live weight of 12 kg. The pigs were distributed at random according to a 2 x 2 Latin square design into two treatments. The treatments were two mixtures of feed used, consisting of a Cuban meal mixture and a Dominican pelleted mixture of recognized quality. Feed consumption was restricted to 0.8 kg DM per kg0.75 per day and water was provided ad libitum. Regarding to the chemical composition, the Cuban feedstuff showed a lower percentage of crude protein (N x 6.25) when compared to the imported mixture (15 and 20%, espectively). There were significant (P 0.001) differences for all studied digestive indices (76.2 and 86.3% for DM digestibility, and 68.4 and. 77.1% for N digestibility) in favour of the Dominican feedstuff. The mixture of Cuban production was below the requirements for this stage of animal growth from the standpoint of view of nutrition and digestive use. This fact does indicate deterioration in the quality of the mixture and declare it as unfit for use in the starter category.
