The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of PRP SOL, a soil improving agent, on hydro-physical properties of conventionally treated (tillage) loamy soil. Our experiments were carried out near Hlavnice in northern Moravia (Czech Republic) during the years 2008 and 2009. The fields were sown with poppy and sugar beet. Soil infiltration capacity, texture, reduced bulk density, porosity, pore distribution, aeration of top soil and water content were evaluated. Repeated conventional tillage and application of PRP SOL did not demonstrate any improvement in soil physical properties (density, porosity, soil compaction, reduced water content in soil). Based on the infiltration rate, hydraulic conductivity of the soil (used to classify soil permeability) was determined. The area with application of PRP SOL belongs to Group III and at the time of monitoring showed slight permeability. In the year 2009 it decreased by about 50 %. The area without application of the PRP SOL belongs to Group IV, showing mean permeability and, within the two-year period, its value did not change significantly.
