Aphids and their associated aphidophagous insects on pear and mango trees in newly reclaimed sandy area in Egypt

Field experiments were conducted at pear and mango orchards cultivated in newly reclaimed sandy areas at El-Khattara district, Sharkia Governorate, Egypt, during three successive seasons. The results revealed the occurrence of Aphis gossypii Glover infesting leaves of pear and mango trees . Many aphidophagous insects associated with A. gossypii on both crops such as the parasitoid, Aphidius colemani Vier., the hyperparasitoid, Asaphes vulgaris and the predatorschrysoperla carnea (Steph.), Coccinella undecimpunctata L., Cydonia vicina var. nilotlca Muls., Aphidoletes aphidimyza Rond., and Syrphus corollae F.Where Coranus aegyptius obtained only on pear trees. The number of population peaks of A. gossypii was recorded on leaves of pear and mango trees during 2001, 2002 and 2003 seasons. It was differed through the studying period . Aphid predators associated with A. gossyppii infesting pear and mango trees, also recorded different numbers of peaks during every season. Few numbers of the parasitoid, A. colemani, was recorded in 2001 season. It recorded one peak only such as the hyperparasitoid, A. vulgaris, in 2003 season.
