Regarding the survey on insect fauna (pests and their natural enemies)of wheat and barley in Iran using Geographical Information System(GIS), collected data of insects were entered into databank((١٩٤٦-٢٠٠٤). Distribution maps were produced for ٩ orders and ١١٦ species based on ٧٠٤ localities. GIS techniques were used to analyse the ecological factors of Eurygaster integriceps. As a result, ecological information about E.integriceps, was figured out by overlaying different ecological data, as well as prediction maps based on different values are presented. Comparison of infestation levels of advanced pure lines of irrigated bread and durum wheats as well as rain-fed wheats to cereal sawfly (Cephus pygmaeus) showed significant differences among the wheat lines. Regression line drawn for the percentage of infestation on the wheats with different thickness of their stems and different rates of their silicium content revealed a significant negative correlation between percentage of infestation and stem thickness and also the silicium content. The experiments conducted on the advanced lines of barley have resulted , as in the case of wheat, in appearance of significant differences between them concerning resistance levels to cereal sawfly. As regards the level of resistance of various wheat cultivars to Russian Wheat Aphid(Diuraphis noxia), a number of wheat cultivars have been evaluated resulting in exhibition of significant differences between them. Screening of irrigated and rain-fed wheat cultivars and lines for resistance to wheat thrips (Haplothrips tritici) at different locations has revealed some significant differences between them. To assess crop losses caused by the insects in the stored wheat and barley in various parts of Iran, some prolonged observations have been carried out. The results show that the average damage in the regions of Tehran, Zanjan, Hamadan, Khuzestan and Sistan-Baluchestan ranges from ١/٨٦ to ٤٤/٠٣ %. Highest damage has been observed in Khuzestan and Sistan _ Baluchestan where the humidity is lowest...
