The project was carried out to prepared genetic materials for sunflower hybridization. The different parts of the project are as follows: - Forth back cross in the maintainer lines derived from common material between Russian and Iranian materials. Transferring mail sterility via backcross method to 45 inbreed lines in Karaj and 42 inbreed lines in Zanjan (fifth backcross) - preliminary maintaining and propagation of promising lines - Preparing promising hybrids for the final evaluation of the sunflower single crosses. - Cultivation and selection in S4 lines extracted from France populations - Continue of selfing and selection in the selected lines derived from open pollination populations - Cultivation of F1 generation derived from crosses between imported hybrids and an Iranian maintainer line along with cultivation of the original hybrids and the derived F1 and the mail sterile individual plant in the F2 population. - Selection and selfing in the F2 generation derived from the imported hybrids in order to identify new restorers.
