Determination of nutritive Values of potato stem and leaf in Kurdistan province

This research was conducted to study the nutritive value of aerial part of potato (APP) in Kurdistan providence (Iran). The local plan under potato cultivation in districts Qurveh and Dehgolan was divided into three regions where five villages were selected in each region according to the stratified randomized sampling method. The APP samples were collected from three farms in each village. Samples of each village were pooled and finally 15 samples were prepared for chemical composition. Digestibility was determined according to the faecal collection using in vivo method on 5 adult male sheep. Results showed that the average dry matter, crud protein, Crud fat, crud fiber, calcium, phosphorus, potassium and magnesium were respectively 94.18, 12.55, 1.86, 21.62, 1.53, 0.29, 1.8 and 0.15 Percent and energy content was 3383.8 kcal/kg. The trace elements including: zinc, copper, iron and manganese were 23.03, 12.66, 35.47, 302.06 mg/kg respectively. The digestibility of dry matter, organic matter, crude protein, crude fiber, Crud fat and nitrogen free extract were 43.6, 51.04, 56.12, 40.08, 50.64 and 51.01percent respectively.
