40 mealybug specimens from 20 plant species were collected in Gilan, Mazandaran and Golestan provinces. 6 mealybug species were identified among the collected specimens by author and the other specimens in Hayk Mirzayans Insect Museum. Pseudococcus viburni (Signoret), Planococcus citri (Risso), Planococcus vovae (Nasonov), Pseudococcus comstocki (Kuwana), Pseudococcus longispinus (Targioni Tozzetti), Trabutina serpentina (Green). The suvey shows P. citri and P. viburni are the pests in these provinces. It was mentioned frequently the mealybug Pseudococcus maritimus ( Ehrhrn) in Persian references, but it is a misidentification and the correct scientific name is Pseudococcus viburni . P. maritimus occures in Nearctic Zone. In the last, P. viburni was a main pest on the different plants but at present this mealybug is only on Tea sinensis. Now P. citri is distributed in all regions of the north of Iran.
