Genetic diversity within and between of saffron (Crocus sativus) in Iran using microsatellite markers
2006
Mardi, Mohsen | Pirseyedi, Mostafa
In this study, for the first time, genetic diversity within and between of 39 Iranian saffron ecotypes (Crocus sativus) using microsatellite markers was studied. Out of 10 saffron microsatellite markers, 5 were polymorphic and the number of observed alleles ranged from 3 to 6. Polymorphic information content varied from 0.02 to 0.41. The results of cluster analysis using microsatellite markers showed there was a genetic diversity among Iranian saffron ecotypes especially among Golpaygan and Ghaen studied samples.
