To evaluate quality and quantity yield of seventheen cold regions alfalfa ecotypes, this experiment was conducted in Randomized Complete Block Desigh (RCBD) with three replications in Karaj, for 2 years since 2009. Seventheen ecotypes (Ordoubad, Chaleshtar, Mohajeran, Galebani, Ghargholough, Famenin, Ghahavand, Gharaghozlou, Sedghian, Malek-kandi, Ghareaghaj, Silvaneh, Shorakat, Rehnani, Jouzareh, Sahandava and Hokmabad) were included in this study. Chemical components were measured with AOAC methods. According to combined analysis of variance, mean squares of ecotypes were significant at 1% probability level for fresh forage yield, dry forage yield and plant height. However mean squares of ecotype in year interaction was non-significant for all of the quantitative traits. Also mean squares of ecotypes were significant for NDF at 1% probability level and for Cp, DMD and OMD at at 5% probability level. Ecotype in year interaction was significant for NDF at 5% probability level and for DMD and OMD at at 1% probability level. Also mean comparisons showed that the best ecotypes for fresh forage yield, dry forage yield, plant height, stem number and leaf to stem ratio were Gharaaghaj with 61.3 and 16.4 t/h, Galebani with 79.8 cm, Chaleshtar with ٤٣٣ and Silvana with 0.92 , respectively. Meanwhile, mean comparisons showed that the best ecotypes for CP, NDF, ADF, DMD, OMD and ASH were Chaleshtar with %17.73, Silvana with %50.43, Silvana with%35.33, Ordoubad with %62.98, Ordoubad with %59.89 and Silvana with %9.92, respectively.
