In order to study the resistance of late and moderately different maize genotypes to common smut, an experiment with 22 lines and 19 hybrids in 2009 and also 14 lines and 17 hybrids in 2010 in RCBD with three replications were conducted at Karaj and Kermanshah stations. All of the ears were inoculated by tip injection method at suitable time. Inoculation was carried out with syringe (3m1/each ear) at silking stage. Ears were evaluated 3-4 weeks after inoculation. The results of variance analysis and mean comparison in both years showed that there is different reactions among material to disease. In this study, after harvesting of ears, the resistance of each genotypes was determind based on disease severity index (0-7). Among examined lines in 2009, line K 3515/2 and K 3640/3, also two lines K 3547/3 and A679 in 2010 were specified as moderately resistant and resistant line. Also among hybrids, K 3640/3 x K 19/1 in 2009 and two hybrids K 3673/1 x K 18 and K 3547/3 x K 1264/1 in 2010 identified as resistant hybrids to corn common smut.
