拉脱维亚语. Pētījuma mērķis ir izvērtēt situāciju ekotūrisma kā starptautiski atzītā videi draudzīgā tūrisma veida un kā novitātes attīstību mūsu valstī. Ņemot vērā izraisītās klimata pārmaiņas un citus vides riskus, tūrisma īpašo interesi par maz pārveidoto dabu un kultūrvidi un tā ietekmi uz šiem resursiem, kā arī nepieciešamību saglabāt bioloģisko daudzveidību un kultūras mantojumu mūsu valstī, veicināt dabas resursu ilgtspējīgu izmantošanu, ekotūrisma pilnveidošana ir īpaši aktuāla. Ekotūrisms ir uzskatāms par vienu no labākajiem modeļiem un pilotprojektiem videi draudzīgas uzņēmējdarbības un labklājības līmeņa pilnveidošanā pašvaldībās. Pētījuma procesā ir analizēts ekotūrisma jēdziens, vides un tūrisma politika, ekotūrisma kvalitātes sastāvdaļas – ekotehnoloģijas, videi draudzīgās pieejas, vides filozofija un ētika, kā arī veikta ekotūrisma potenciāla izvērtēšana septiņās Natura 2000 teritorijās, kurās ir atšķirīgas dabas un kultūrvides vērtības un tūrisma darbības intensitāte. Pētījuma rezultātā ir izstrādāts ekotūrisma attīstības modelis un rekomendācijas ekotūrisma ilgtspējīgai pārvaldībai samazinot antropogēno slodzi, aktivizējot pašvaldību līdzdalību plānošanā, kas veido ekotūrismu Latvijā par nozīmīgu un konkurentspējīgu starptautiskajā tūrisma tirgu. Esošais pētījums dod iespēju pozicionēt Latvijas ekotūrismu turpmākajiem nozares zinātniskajiem pētījumiem un studiju programmu izstrādei.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the existing circumstances for ecotourism as an internationally recognised form of environmentally friendly tourism and to observe the development of this novel idea in our state. This study recognises:- the many aspects of climate change and other risks factors impacting on the environment; the interest of the whole tourism enterprise in reduction of impact to the environment and its cultural heritage; the effect on these natural resources, as well as the necessity of maintaining the existing biological diversity and cultural heritage of the state. This study also promotes the facilitation and advancement of long-term sustainability of nature resources and actions for the maximum improvement and development of ecotourism. Ecotourism may be considered as one of the best paradigm pilot projects for environmentally-friendly business enterprises and for the improvement of socio-economic welfare in association with local governments. During the active processes of this study, an analysis was initiated into the whole concept of what is ecotourism and what are the components of ecotourism quality control. The potential for ecotourism was evaluated in the Natura 2000 territories, all of which present a variety of natural and cultural heritage values and varying levels of the dynamic of attraction as a tourism destination. As a result of the outcome of this study, a complete model for the development of ecotourism in Latvia has been drafted. This model provides recommendations for the sustainable development of ecotourism while simultaneously lessening anthropogenic load. It also promotes the active participation of local government in the entire planning process, thus facilitating Latvia as a significant ecotourism destination within the overall international tourism market. The existing study also provides an agenda for the possibility of positioning the enterprise of ecotourism in Latvia as a field of further scientific research and for the development of a certified programme of study at the tertiary level.
