After using the parental pairs of hens for ten months a break was made. The hens were subjected to forced moulting, while the cocks were subjected to different keeping methods (different levels of restriction of feed and light). The following has been concluded on the basis of the study of the effect that the keeping of cocks under various conditions during the break and during the second year of use has: The body weight of the cocks directly depends on the method of their keeping. The method of keeping cocks during the break has a great effect on the mortality rate and elimination. Haematological values (total proteins, SGOT, SGPT, haemoglobin, hematocrit) of the cocks varied significantly depending on the method of keeping. The greatest degree of egg fertilization was achieved in flocks where the cocks were kept under the following conditions during the break: restricted feeding, 8 hours of light per day and a light intensity of 1 W/m2 .
