Contribution to the study of atrazine and alachlore effects on maize.

The effect of alachlore, atrazine and their combinations on the growth of 11 inbred maize lines was studied. Maize plants were grown under controlled conditions in a phytotron up to the three-leaf stage. Molar solutions of herbicides (10** (-4) M) were added at the time of sowing maize in vessels containing sand. The obtained results have shown that alachlore treatment had a negative effect on the growth of the majority of the inbreds studied. In most cases, atrazine did not affect plant growth when compared to the control. Atrazine-alachlore combination reduces the negative effect of alachlore on plants.
