There was stated during investigation a distinct decrease in the nitrogen reductase activity in the green parts of grassland fodder fertilized with doses of mineral nitrogen higher than 300 kg N per ha. But when the maximum dose of nitrogen (500 kg N per hectare) was applied the equilibrium shifted in favour of the amino acids forming amides and a decrease in the percentage of the essential in relation to the non-essential free amino acids was observed.
