The article analyzes recent technical innovations in agriculture and considers their effects on the factors of production, on the production process and on the product. The supply and demand for new technology is also explored as well as the changes taking place in the accumulation and distribution of income. Analysis of data on production costs shows the existence of technological stratification, by product and by geographic area. An attempt is also made, on the basis of ISTAT data, to weigh the extent to which new technology, depending on specialized outside services, is affecting present agricultural development in the three main geographic regions of Italy.
