Twelve growing crossbred calves of approximately the same age and body weight (168 kg) were selected and distributed into 2 comparable groups of 6 animals each after deworming. The animals under control group (group 1) were fed on an average 4 kg lucerne hay to provide 154 Kcal ME/kg W** (0.75). Animals under the experimental group (group 2) were provided 2.0 kg of lentil chuni and 2.0 kg lucerne hay to meet the energy requirement on 50:50 basis. On the basis of these digestibility coefficients, lentil chuni was found to contain 14.1% digestible crude protein (DCP) and 64.8% total digestible nutrients (TDN) on dry-matter basis. The nutritive ration (NR) was 1:3.6. The results of the present trail indicated that lentil chuni can serve as a valuable protein and energy supplement.
