The honey-bearing and polliniferous potential of dominant plant species with apicultural value was evaluated in a 818 ha watershed. The honey-bearing potential was evaluated at two levels: species and community. For the first level a mathematical model was developed which considers the following variables: nectar amount (ul) or pollen amount (mg); number of flowers, nectar concentration (deg Brix), and two constants - one to transform the nectar volume into honey grams and another for transforming the fresh pollen weight into commercial pollen weight. These variables were evaluated in Quillaja saponaria, Puya berteroniana, Proustia cuneifolia, Proustia cinerea and Trichocereus chilensis, since these were preferred by Apis mellifera L.
