36 entries were grown in 2 replications of 4-row plots on the soil types tabela sand and kasarama loam and other breeding lines less extensively screened were grown in 2-row plots. Data on the 4-row plots show 10 entries were significantly higher in yield than Acadian, a variety extensively grown in Colombia. Taller lines had higher yields but there were exceptions. The variety F62/3977 at 55 days after planting was the only variety with many flowers with small pods. The pale green colour of all plants for about one month after planting appeared to have occurred due to low-nitrogen soils that were not infested with Rhizobium japonicum. Data for the 2-row plots are presented. However testing precision was low due to variability of stands on the kasarama loam.
