Detection of S-allele homozygotic plants in Chinese radish (Raphanus sativus L. var. longipinnatus Bailey) by counting seed number was studied. The seed number of less than one per pollinated flower indicated the incompatible pollination. The study was performed on at least 12 plants segregated from heterozygote which is the common genotype in open-pollinated population. Diallel crosses with reciprocal of these plants was done. The results were compared with the theoretical cross-compatible tables of two S-alleles segregated genotypes to determine the S-allele homozygotes. To confirm the results of detection in this study particularly in case of S-allele homozygote, intra- and intercrossing within and between detected homozygotic plants were done in the following generation of each cultivar. The results showed that the S-allele homozygotes: 1 SaSa plant was found in Thai cultivar KU 1,1 SbSb plant and 1 ScSc plant were found in Thai cultivar OW 1 and 2 SdSd plants and 1 SeSe plant were found in Chinese cultivar Kaopoey. From this study, the multiple S-allele Sb and Sc were dominant in both pollen and stigma, but Se was dominant over Sd in pollen meanwhile Sd and Se were dominant in stigma. The strong self-incompatible characteristic was found in SaSa of cultivar KU 1 and; SbSb and ScSc of cultivar OW 1 by having seed number of 0.27 per pollinated flower. The weaker characteristic was found in SdSd and SeSe of cultivar Kaopoey by having seed number of 0.5 per pollinated flower.
