A survey on the incidence of fungal infestation of groundnut-cake, corn, pearlmillet, rice polish and broken rice was conducted in 3 geographical regions of Andhra Pradesh (India). The predominat fungi infesting these feeds were Aspergillus flavus, A. niger, and species of Fusarium, Penicillium, Rhizopus, Mucor, Curvularia, Drechslera and Alternaria. The percentage of incidence of the colonies of A. flavus ranged from 9.0 to 12.0 in maize, 14.7 to 22.0 in pearlmillet and 11.0 to 12.0 in broken rice. The aflatoxin level in corn was higher than in the other feeds. The number of positive samples for A. flavus was more in groundnut-cake than in other samples.
