As early as 1974, Integrated Pest Management (IPM) was given emphasis by the plant protection cooperation between Germany and Philippine government. Under the newly planned Philippine-German Biological Plant Protection Projects (PGBPPP), application of IPM emphasizes on biological means, with corn and vegetables as the target crops. Trials and experiments are done at small farmers' field. Several training courses mainly for the staff of the Bureau of Plant Industry and Regional Crop Protection Centers [Philippines] were also given by the project staff. Also, there are many planned and on-going studies in cooperation with Benguet State University (BSU) [La Trinidad, Benguet, Philippines] particularly on clubroots of cabbage. There are many surveys and investigations done by staff members and short-term consultants covering many different aspects.
