In 1993-95 the behaviour of 4 white clover cultivars (Anda, Armena, Roma, Romena) was studied in the pasture sward on peat-boggy soils at grazing by cows. Stolon length, leaf number and area were measured during vegetation season. The Armena and Romena cultivars appeared suitable for permanent pasture grazed by cattle. Growth and development of the white clover, satisfactory at domination of Poa pratensis, were negatively affected by Elymus repens and Taraxacum officinale in the sward.
