The effects of varying concentrations of abscisic acid (ABA) on the senescence of light- and dark-incubated Phaseolus vulgaris L. leaf discs were investigated. Dark conditions and high ABA levels enhanced the loss of weight, yellowing, and decrease of chlorophyll and soluble protein content of mature leaf discs in the course of senescence.
