An experiment was conducted to see the effect of date of sowing on the Alternaria blight (Alternaria brassicae) severity in three varieties of mustard, namely Tori 7, Sampad and Sonali Sarisha at Bangladesh Institute of Nuclear Agriculture farm with five different dates of sowing. Disease severity on leaves and siliquae and yield data were recorded. A linear relationship between dates of sowing and disease severity and subseqent yield losses was obtained. The earliest date of sowing (Oct.18) was found to be most suitable for escaping disease severity and obtaining the highest yield.
