A number of goats of three flocks was synchronized during the pre-breeding period. Two of the flocks consisted of pastoral goats and the goats of the third flock were crossbred with Zaanen. Two days after the sponges were removed bucks were introduced into the flocks. The bucks had been separated from the flock a month ago. We checked the oestrus activity in goats that were non-sychronized and we compared the litter size and the fertility with those that were sychronized. Oestrus occurred between the 4th and 7th day after the bucks were introduced (86.2%-100%). The most of oestrus occurred between the 5th and 6th day (37.8% and 35.2%), in the non-sychronized groups. The fertility of the sychronized groups was about the same levels as non synchronized (59.6%-72% and 66.6%-84.9% respectively). The litter size was lower for non sychronized groups (1.6-1.8 and 2.1-2.4). The difference in litter size between sychronized and non sychronized goats was significant in each of the first two flocks and in the third flock the difference was not significant.
