El clima en la reserva de biosfera Sierra de Manantlan (Jalisco-Colima-Mexico) y en su area de influencia.

Con el objeto de determinar el clima en la Reserva de la Biosfera "Sierra de Manantlan" y en su area de influencia, se estimo la temperatura por medio del gradiente mediano o de las cruces, obteniendo los gradientes altotermicos mensuales y el anual. Se utilizo una cuadricula de 20 km para el area de influencia, y de 10 km, para la sierra de Manantlan. Con las cartas de isoyetas mensuales se estimo la precipitacion para la misma cuadricula. Con los valores observados en las estaciones climatologicas se complemento la informacion, identificando los tipos de clima segun la clasificacion de Koeppen modificada por Garcia. Se encontraron tres grupos climaticos: calidos subhumedos y templados subhumedos, ademas de siete subgrupos climaticos. El gradiente altotermico obtenido para la region, es de 0.4 grados C/100m. La sierra de Manantlan representa una sombra meteorologica para la zona norte, ocasionando un clima seco. El mes mas lluvioso al sur de la sierra fue septiembre, coincidiendo con la epoca de mayor numero de ciclones, y para la zona norte, el mes de julio.

In order to determine the climatic zones of the Sierra de Manantlan Biosphere Reserve and its area of influence, and due to the scarce information available within the sierra, temperature estimates were done with the median gradient or crossing, in order to determine the month and annual prediction equations, thus obtaining the altothermic gradients. A grid of 20 km was used for the area of influence, and of 10 km for the Sierra de Manantlan. With the mensual isoyet map, we estimated the precipitation values for the same grid and with them (help with the real values from the 31 stations), the climatic classification was determined according to Koeppen modified by Garcia. Three climatic groups resulted: hot subhumid, dry subhumid, and temperate subhumid, as well as seven subgroups. The annual altothermic gradient for the region was 0.4 deg C/100m. The Sierra de Manantlan represents a geographic barrier for the northern slope, causing a dry climate. The rainiest months were September for the southern slope-the month with te highest number of hurricanes - and July for the northern slope.
